ATTESTATION OF THE RECRUIT

NOTE.-The Justice, or some person deputed by him, shall fill up the Declaration, first asking the Recruit the questions necessary for the purpose of filling up the same.


DECLARATION TO BE MADE BY RECRUIT ON ATTESTATION.

Mark Coe   of the Parish of  Desborough  in or near the Town of   Northampton  in the county of  Northampton  do solemnly and sincerely declare, that I am to the best of my Knowledge and Belief  21  Years of Age;  that I am of the Trade or Calling of  Groom, [or of no Trade or Calling, as the case may be]; that I am not an Apprentice; that I am not married; that I do not belong to the Militia, or to the Naval Coast Volunteers, or to any Portion of Her Majesty's Land or Sea Forces; that I have never served Her Majesty by Land or Sea in any Military or Naval Employment whatsoever, except ------------ ; that I have never been marked with the letter D; that I have never been rejected as unfit for Her Majesty's Service on any previous Enlistment; that I was enlisted at  Birmingham  on the  6th  Day of  March  1863 at 8 o'Clock AM by Serjt C Cox of 2/24 Foot and that I have read [or had read to me] the Notice then given to me and understood its Meaning; that I enlisted for a Bounty of £1-00  and a Free Kit, and have no Objection to make to the manner of my Enlistment; that I am willing to be attested to serve in the Royal Regiment of Artillery for the Twelve Years provided Her Majesty should so long require my Services, and also for such further term, not exceeding Two Years, as shall be directed by the Commanding Officer on any Foreign Station.

OATH TO BE TAKEN BY RECRUIT ON ATTESTATION

Mark Coe  do make Oath, that I will be faithful and bear true Allegiance to Her Majesty, Her Heirs, and Successors, and that I will, as in duty bound, honestly and faithfully defence Her Majesty, Her Heirs, and Successors, in Person, Crown, and Dignity, against all enemies, and will observe and obey all orders of Her Majesty, Her Heirs, and Successors, and of the Generals and Officers set over me.  So Help me God.

me at  Birmingham this 9 day of March

MEDICAL EXAMINATION ON APPROVAL.

Re-examined by me at London on the 11th day of  March  1863, and I consider him  fit  for Service.

Certificate of Commanding Officer.

Mark Coe  having been finally approved, I have caused his Name, Age, Date of Attestation, and every prescribed particular, to be recorded in the Regimental Register, with the No. 14690 affixed to his name; and I certify that I am satisfied with the correctness of this Attestation, and that the forms required by the Mutiny Act appear to have been complied with.
