[Latin preamble states that John Wood junior of Rothwell and John Wood Senior of Orlingbury bind themselves to William Iliffe gentleman and William Morris yeoman, churchwardens, and William Buckby miller and Thomas Austin yeoman, overseers of the poor, for the sum of forty pounds. November 1730.]

Whereas Mary Price has Lately been Delivered of a Male Bastard Child within the said parish of Desborow To which Child the above bounden John Wood the younger according to Law Stands Charged to be the putative Father And whereas the above bounden John Wood the younger & John Wood the Elder have agreed to Indempnifie the sd parish of Desborow of & from the sd Bastard Child Now the condicion of this Obligacion is Such That if the sd John Wood the younger John Wood the Elder or either of them their or either of their heirs ... adm[inistra]ors or assignes Doe and Shall from time to time & at all times hereafter clearly fully acquitt discharge & Save harmless as well the above Named William Iliffe William Morris William Buckby & Thomas Austin the Churchwardens & Overseers of the poor of this parish of Desborow aforesaid & their Successors for the time being & every of them As also all the Inhabitants & parishioners of the sd parish which now are or hereafter Shall be for the time being & every of them of & from all & all manner of costs charges troubles & incumbrances whatsoever for or by Reason of the Birth education maintenance Nourishing & bringing up of the sd Bastard Child And of & from all actions Suits charges troubles & demands whatsoever touching or concerning the Same Then this present Obligacion is to be Null & void Or also to be & Remain in full force & virtue
