Settlement Certificate from Rothwell
4th October 1725

  To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of Desborough in the County of Northton

Whereas John Curtis and his Wife late Inhabitants of Rothwell als Rowell in the County aforesaid is gone to Inhabitt and Reside in Desborough aforesaid. We the Churchwardens and the Overseers of the Poor of Rothwell als Rowell aforesaid do hereby Certifie under our hands and seales that the said John Curtis and his Wife are Inhabitants of Rothwell als Rowell aforesaid and Legally settled there And if the said John Curtis his Wife or Family or any of them shall happen to become Chargeable to or forced to ask or Require Reliefe of the parish of Desborough aforesaid that then and in such Case we do hereby Oblige our selves and our Successors to Receive and provide for them as persons Inhabiting and settled in the parish of Rothwell als Rowell aforesaid According to the true Intent and meaning of a Late Act of Parliament in that Case made and provided In Witness whereof we the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Rowell aforesaid have hereunto sett our hands and seals the Fourth day of October in the Twelveth year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord George by the Grace of God of Great Brittaine France and Ireland King. Defender of the Faith &c and in the year of Our Lord Christ One Thousand Seven Hundred Twentie and Five.

Signed Sealed and delivered by the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor in the presence of   Churchwardens
