Removal Order 13th April 1778
from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, to Desborough

Borough of Bury Saint Edmunds in the County of Suffolk

To the Constables of the said Borough or any of them And also to all Constables and other Officers whom it may concern to receive and convey:

And to the Church Wardens Chapel Wardens or Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Desborow in the County of Northampton or either of them to receive and obey.

Whereas upon Examination of William Webster a private Soldier in His Majesty's seventh Regiment of Dragoons commanded by Sir George Howard taken before Us Joseph Maulkin Gent Alderman and William Symons Esqr two of His Majesty's Justice of the Peace in and for the said Borough one whereof is of the Quorum upon Oath (a true Copy of which Examination is hereunto annexed) it doth appear that the lawful Place of Settlement of the said William Webster, Sarah his Wife Hannah their Infant Daughter of the Age of six Years & upwards Mary their Infant Daughter of the Age of five Years or thereabouts William their Infant Son of the Age of three Years of thereabouts & Sarah their Infant Daughter of the Age of six Months or thereabouts is in the said Parish of Desborow in the County of Northampton aforesaid

And Whereas the said William Webster has applied to the Parish Officers of the Parish of Saint Mary in the Borough of Bury Saint Edmunds aforesaid for Relief and Maintenance of the said Ann his Wife and their four Infant Children He not being able to support & maintain his said Wife and Children any longer

There are therefore to require You the said Constables of the Borough of Bury Saint Edmunds [line of text concealed by a crease]
Mary William & Sarah their Infant Children in a Cart drawn with one Horse to the Parish of Westley in the said County of Suffolk that being the first Parish in the next Precinct[?] through which they ought to pass in the direct Way to the said Parish of Desborow to which they are to be sent and to deliver them to the Constables or other Officer of each first Parish in each next Precinct together with this Pass and the Copy of the Examination of the said William Webster thereunto annexed taking his Receipt for the same

And the said Ann Webster and her four Infant Children are to be thence conveyed on in like manner to the said Parish of Desborow there to be delivered to some of the Church Wardens or Overseers of the Poor of the same Parish to be there provided for according to Law

And you the said Church Wardens Chapel Wardens and Overseers of the Poor are hereby required to receive the said Persons and provide for them as aforesaid

Given under our Hands and Seals the thirteenth Day of April in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight.
