Settlement Certificate from Scaldwell
10th November 1789

Northamptonshire To witt

WE the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Scaldwell in the said County, do hereby certify, own and acknowledge Philip Dawson and Elizabeth his Wife also John and Elizabeth their Children to be Inhabitants legally settled in the parish of Scaldwell in witness whereof we have hereunto set our Hands and Seals the tenth Day of November in the Year of our Lord 1789.

WE whose Names are hereunto subscribed, two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the County of Northampton aforesaid, do allow of the above-written Certificate. And we do also certify, that Saml Cave one of the Witnesses who attested the Execution of the said Certificate, hath made this Day Oath before us that the said Justices, that he did see the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor, whose Names and Seals are hereunto subscribed and set, severally sign and seal the same, and that the Names of the said Samuel Cave and of William Page whose names are subscribed, as Witness to the Execution of the said Certificate, are respectively of their own proper Hand-writing. Given under our Hands the Thirteenth Day of         in the Year of our Lord 1789
