Joseph Dawkins was born at Desborough 25 Sep 1834, the elder son of Joseph Dawkins (born 1807) and Mary Reynolds, both of Desborough.
The The current Joseph's grandfather was another Joseph Dawkins (born before 1787), and he followed tradition in naming his own eldest son Joseph (born about 1860).
Joseph married Ann, surname not known, by about 1860. They had four sons.
