Mark Augustus Ginns was born at Desborough in 1846. His father John Ginns came from Brampton Ash, his mother Sophia Peck from Brington.

Mark was married twice; firstly to Eliza Allen, with whom he had four children, and secondly to Martha Stock who outlived him by 25 years.
