Frederick was born at Desborough about 1869,  the son of James Flude, of Rothwell, and Ann Leago, of Desborough.

Frederick's mother Ann died in 1877 at the age of 29, and his father married first Caroline Horsley, who died eight years later, and then Susan Butlin.

Fred's wife Mary was born in Desborough, about 1870, the fourth of eight known children of Joseph Tebbutt and Mary Ann Ginns, both also of Desborough.

Mary and Fred were married in 1890 and had three known children: Mary, Oscar and Ernest. Oscar served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the Great War. You can read his service record and a physical description here. It is possible that Ernest was also called up during the later stages of the war; not all service records have survived.
