Amelia Rose Mee was the daughter of George and Amelia Mee. She was born about 1847 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, where her father was a schoolmaster. Amelia Rose was a school teacher in Desborough in 1871 when she married William Deacon Tailby, but the marriage took place in Warwick where her parents were living.

William and Amelia had at least 7 children.
