John George Wood,
known as George,
was born about 1868 at Desborough, the son of
John Wood and
Mary Elizabeth Smith.
George worked as a carpenter and joiner before and after his marriage to
Ann Swingler in
1893.
Ann was born at Wilbarston about 1866, the daughter of
Samuel Swingler
and
Hannah Ingram.
Ann and George had two sons: George, born at Stamford in 1894, and John
L, born at Desborough in 1897.
