In Memory of

LEWIS CAVE

who Departed this Life
April 22nd 1783
Aged 72 Years

Our Kindred and our Friends are gone:
Know, O my Soul this Doom thy own.
Feeble as theirs my mortal Frame
the same my Way my House the same.

Lewis was the second son and fifth child of William and Jane Cave. He was baptised on 6th Jul 1710.

It appears that his father died when Lewis was 2 years old, his mother surviving a further 32 years as a widow. This suggests that the family was well off financially.

Lewis married Ann Sansome at Clipston in 1741.
