Ellen was born at Desborough about 1862, the ninth and youngest known child of Thomas Ginns and Ann Turner, both of Desborough.

George was born at Desborough, about 1864, the eldest child of Thomas Smith and Elizabeth Croft both of Desborough.

George married Ellen in 1886. By 1901 they had three sons and a daughter.

The eldest son, Thomas, married a Desborough girl, Ellen Panter. They had a daughter Evelyn Jane in 1908. It's not known whether Thomas served in the Great War. It looks as though he emigrated to Australia as the memorial shows that he was buried at Melbourne.

Harold and Harry, the second and third children, both served and died in the Great War. I've not found any service records for Harold, but Harry is listed on the CWGC website.
