Switch to 1841, 1851, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 census

Excluding 'scholars', the top occupations in 1861 were: Silk worker (25%, up from 20% in 1851), lace worker (21% up from 18%), agricultural labourer (18%, down from 19%), and embroiderer (less than 3%, down from 7%). Only 2 people were on parish relief (down from 23), and none were described as paupers (down from 12 in 1851).

Occupations new to Desborough included work connected with railways, and iron stone quarrying or mining.
